This was another good friends to lovers book by Brookelyn Mosley. The Thanksgiving setting gets you in the mood for the holiday and the family atmosphere was also nice to see. We got to see some of how Alexis and Keith met as kids to become friends and their relationship was cute with their battles. I was happy that Alexis gave him a second chance to prove himself and agreed to being his girlfriend because I enjoyed the two of them together in this short story. I would be interested to see another book about these characters in the future.
I loved this short novella! It was so good! I read it in one sitting. I do prefer to get my books directly from Amazon and onto my Kindle because it allows me to download a sample of the book to see if the book is something I want to further explore. I have learned lots from a sample so if authors want to publish their books independently, which I totally understand and support, I wish they would give us that same curtesy and provide a sample. Since I have loved most of Ms. Mosley’s work, purchasing this book was less of a risk. I trust her writing, but it still would be nice to give readers a sample of the book before buying.
Back to the book…. I loved the main characters and how they navigated their friendship. I hope we get to hear more from them in later books or get a longer book that continues their journey. My only criticism of the book, and I’ve seen this in a few of Ms. Mosley’s books, is during the intimate scenes we see the female characters reach their “pinnacle” but we don’t see the same for the men. The intimacy just kind of ends with the FMC which makes me feel like we got cheated on the experience. It’s just something that bothers me and seeing how that was a main issue in the book I was disappointed that as readers we were not given a chance to experience the “pinnacle” with both characters. Since this really takes away from my experience I took one star off my review for that reason, however that is my only criticism of this short read. If you are a fan of friends to lovers and romance this is definitely a great read! Great job Ms. Mosley!
I enjoyed everything about this book. You could tell that there was a strong friendship foundation between Keith and Lexi, but that they both also wanted more. I’m so glad Keith got an opportunity to rectify the situation and rectify it he did. Also, I’m glad Lexi allowed herself to enjoy what she clearly wanted because I did think for a second she was gonna get her own way. Looking forward to what we get from this part of Brookelyn’s universe. This is a perfect Thanksgiving read!!!
Does friends to lovers quite like BK! She has a gift when it comes to this writing trope and each time I get to indulge in her creative inspiration, it’s simply my pleasure. This story was a perfect way to kick off the upcoming holiday season! Lexi and Keith gave off a nice balance of humor and heat! And I definitely wouldn’t mind a second serving!
Food always taste better the second time around. After a night in Vegas, full of liquid courage Alexis and Keith engage in a different step. Figuring out that maybe this was the breaking point in their friendship, Alexis ignores Keith. Thanksgiving he shows up to get a second serving to cement those unspoken desires between them. I love the way their friendship banter blooms into full blown love. I just love the journey of friends to lovers. This was such a delightful read. I can't wait to experience more! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
